The Ashes Barns Wedding Video
The Ashes is a rustic wedding venue situated on the outskirts of Endon, Staffordshire. Since Vision Wave Weddings is based in Congleton I’m only about a 20 minute drive from The Ashes. So I would consider this one of my local venues, and a particular favourite.
When I first visited The Ashes in 2016 for the wedding of Lisa and David I was so excited to finally be visiting. Because I’d heard so many good things about the venue I had high expectations. The area surrounding the venue is very rustic, and makes you feel like you’re in the middle of nowhere.
Nestled in the Staffordshire countryside The Ashes gives couples and guests beautiful views over the rolling hills. The resident longhorn cattle are awesome, and you’ll often see them featured in the opening of a highlight film.
One of the things that I love about The Ashes is that it’s pretty much a blank canvas. And couples can make the venue work for them, no matter their theme or style. I’ve even seen Alice in Wonderland themed weddings here. It really is open to your imagination.
I LOVE a rustic wedding, and with being a barn The Ashes is the perfect venue for a rustic wedding. Couples can spread their day across two different barns, each one just as beautiful. The ceremony barn is quaint, but with plenty of space for your guests. There is even a handy balcony at the back, which is usually where I set up one of my cameras.
The wedding breakfast barn is larger than the ceremony barn, with a really high ceiling. Upstairs there is also a cool bar area, with plenty of comfortable sofas.

Spring Wedding at The Ashes Barns
Amber and Ashley booked bride and groom preparations as an add on to their wedding package. I arrived at the Ashes nice and early to capture the beginnings of Amber’s bridal preparation. Shortly after I arrived Ash and his groomsmen arrived. I met up with Ash and his groomsmen and filmed them in the final stages of their preparations.
The ceremony was held in the ceremony barn, and we were treating to some beautiful personal vows from Amber and Ashley! Personal vows are my favourite, especially when it comes to editing highlight films, they make the films so much more personal.
Including dogs in your wedding day
Emily and Alex celebrated their love in a delightful August wedding filled with sunshine, warmth, and special moments, including a unique entrance by their beloved dog, Miley.
During the ceremony, a very special guest stole the show… Miley, the couple’s dog, who made her entrance with the rings. It was a unique and adorable moment that added an extra touch of charm to the day. The weather complemented the celebration perfectly, with glorious sunshine and warmth, setting the stage for a truly beautiful day. The icing on the cake was a stunning sunset that painted the sky with hues of warmth and love.
During the drinks reception, I had the pleasure of working with Becc Photography, and together, we captured lovely portraits of Emily, Alex, and their beautiful Miley. The moments shared during the shoot were filled with joy, creating memories that will be cherished for years to come.
Winter Wedding at the ashes
Winter weddings are always a mixed bag when it comes to weather. It can be pouring down with rain one day, and the next it can be dry and icy. Whilst it can be challenging to film in different types of weather, I always make sure I am prepared for every eventuality. On the morning of Rachel and Steven’s day it had snowed, no problem – I donned my winter boots, and set off in my trusty Jeep.
The day was absolutely beautiful, and The Ashes looked super festive with a little covering of snow. Of course we spent most of the day enjoying the warmth inside, but we did get to venture out into the snow for some couples portraits.
My advice is, whatever the weather of your day, embrace it! It’s a once in a lifetime kind of day, enjoy it.
