Victoria & Tom’s Maer Farm Wedding
If you’ve been to Slaters Country Inn in Staffordshire then you will know the village of Maer. It’s a beautiful, quaint little village, that is often used as the photo spot for weddings at Slaters Country Inn. So I was really pleased when Victoria and Tom got in touch to see if I was able to cover their day.
I’d met Victoria and Tom at a number of weddings over the years, so I was honoured when they asked me to film their day too.
St Peter’s Church Maer Wedding Ceremony
My day began at St Peter’s Church in Maer, which is actually where Charles Darwin married Emma Wedgewood. Historically the church is incredibly interesting! Victoria’s family live nearby the church, so she was only walking distance, which was super convenient when the time came for her to head across for the ceremony.
But before that, the guests and Tom had to arrive. Since their wedding reception was being held just a short walk away, the guests parked there and walked up towards the church. This was a great opportunity for me to get some nice arrival shots of the guests.
The church itself is small inside, but plenty of room to accommodate the whole wedding party. It gives it a really intimate feel. The ceremony was lovely, and it was great to witness Victoria and Tom tie the knot.
Maer Farm Wedding Reception
It was great to work alongside Cris Lowis for this wedding. After the ceremony we rounded the guests up outside, and asked them to line the path from the church, so that we could get a confetti shot. Once that was done Victoria and Tom spent some time chatting with guests, before they began making their way to the marquee.
Victoria, Tom and their family headed into the gardens of Victoria’s childhood home for family portraits. Then once they were done we got some couples portraits in the gardens too. We then headed up to the marquee for the reception ourselves, stopping a few times along the way for some more couples portraits.
Upon arriving at the reception the guests were already relaxing and enjoying drinks and canapés. Victoria and Tom joined them until it was time for the speeches. The speeches were wonderful, always one of my favourite parts of the day.
The evening continued with a wonderful three course wedding breakfast, following by dancing!
