choosing music for your film
Here at Vision Wave Weddings every wedding package booked includes a full length, feature film of your day. This is provided to you on DVD or Blu-Ray, or on a USB. Since this film isn’t to be shared online this gives us the freedom to use a variety of music, licensed legally with a PRS license.
Choosing music for your wedding film can seem like a daunting task, but I promise, it doesn’t need to be. My theory is basically that you need to choose music that you like. There’s no point picking out a bunch of chart songs, if they’re not even songs you like. I’d much rather edit a film to your favourite Fall Out Boy songs if that’s what you love. It’s your film!
There is no right or wrong answer.
What song are you walking down the aisle to?
If you have already supplied song choices to your church or venue then this is a great place to start.
I love to use the same music in your film that you actually had playing at specific points on the day. What song are you walking down the aisle to? What’re you signing the register to? Your first walk as a married couple? And what songs will be playing in the background of your wedding breakfast?
Of course I don’t usually use your first dance song more than once throughout the film, but occasionally I will use an alternative version of the song, such as a string quartet version, or something similar. And the mention of string quartet brings me to my next point – you can absolutely choose to have string quartet versions of songs, or instrumental versions, acoustic versions… whatever versions exist!
There are always going to be the more popular wedding artists, and this list probably won’t surprise you in the slightest. These are some of the most popular songs and artists that I have been asked to use over the years.

What about the highlight film music?
Unfortunately PRS licenses don’t cover the use of music in films shared online, so we’re unable to use ‘popular music’ in our highlight films – but fear not, I have access to a vast range of music from multiple sources, all of which are perfect for your highlight film.
Each soundtrack is hand selected, it can sometimes take me longer to choose the music for the highlight film, than it does for me to actually edit the highlight film. On the day of your wedding I’ll be able to get a good feel of the style of your musical taste, and this allows me to select something perfect for your highlight film.
All of the highlight films, and sneak peeks, that I share on the website, YouTube, and Instagram and Facebook, use licensed music from these awesome websites, so you can be rest assured that I will pick something just as wonderful for your highlight film.
