In August I had the pleasure of capturing the wedding of Holly and Sid. This was probably one of my most highly anticipated weddings of 2018 as it was my first time capturing a wedding at The Mills Barns, Alveley. The Mill Barns is run by Sarah and Ben, of Ensarb Estates, who also run the beautiful Pendrell Hall and The Ashes (two of my absolute favourite wedding venues). I arrived a little earlier than I normally would so that I could have a real good look around the venue, I always like to do this for new venues that I’ve never visited before.

My first impression of The Mill Barns was “wow, this is stunning”, it really does remind me of a lot of the American wedding venues that you see, and you can tell that it’s been built for purpose as a wedding venue. If you have a look at some American wedding videos on YouTube or Vimeo you’ll probably understand what I mean about the similarity.

The wedding ceremony was held in the ceremony barn, a stunning, massive room with amazing lighting and a balcony at the back – where the fantastic Ashmore Brothers were set up playing for guests as they entered the barn. As the guests made their way to their seats, and Sid took up his position on the aisle, Cris from Lowis Photography and I set up waiting to capture the entrance of Holly.

After the ceremony Holly and Sid spent some time chatting and laughing with their guests at the drinks reception. I caught lots of funny moments amongst the guests, and I think this is one of the best parts about wedding videography. I’m able to be discreet and get in amongst the guests, usually without them noticing me – this means I can capture 100% natural moments, without having to stage a thing.

So far summer 2018 has been an absolute treat weather-wise, I’ve only had one rainy day, which is incredible! Whilst rain won’t ruin your day, the sun shining does make it a lot easier for guests to enjoy the beautiful grounds, especially at a venue like The Mill Barns. Once the drinks reception was over guests made their way into the Wedding Breakfast Barn and took their seats.

Holly and Sid had clearly put a lot of thought into their decor, and all of the tables were themed around New York. I always love to see how each couple decorates and themes their wedding. Everyone enjoyed a delicious three course dinner, and then it was time for the speeches! The evening reception was fantastic and we were once again entertained by the Ashmore Brothers, who even got a little boy up on stage drumming – it was adorable
