Gemma & Matthew’s Mitton Hall Wedding
Gemma and Matthew booked me way back at the start of 2020, for their 2020 wedding. Yep, you guessed it, they had to postpone. They waited exactly 365 days extra for their wedding. Gemma and Matthew found me via recommendation from their chosen photographer Cris Lowis. Cris and I have worked together so many times over the years, he shot my own wedding. It’s always nice to know I’ll be working alongside a great photographer for the day.
I arrived at Mitton Hall a couple of hours before the ceremony, and since I was quite early I had a little exploration of the venue. It’s a gorgeous county house, nestled in the scenic Ribble Valley. Whilst it’s nice to film at venues I know, it’s always so awesome to film at a brand new venue.
Before long Matthew and his groomsmen rocked up, and they spent time with a cold beer and greeted the guests as they arrived.
Mitton Hall Wedding Ceremony
The ceremony room at Mitton Hall is beautiful! It’s huge, bathed in lots of natural light, thanks to the large windows and the glass ceiling. It was a beautiful summers day too, so that just made the room even brighter.
Matthew and the guests made their way into the ceremony room and took their seats. Gemma arrived, looking absolutely stunning! The ceremony was beautiful, and it was a pleasure to see Gemma and Matthew become husband and wife.
After the ceremony the beautiful new couple made their way out to the front of the venue for a confetti shot.
Mitton Hall Wedding Reception
The sun was shining gloriously, so the bride, groom and guests were able to enjoy the entire reception outdoors. You’ll never hear me complain about a sunny wedding, even though it does make using the camera’s screen a little bit harder. I’ll be there, stinking of Hawaiian Tropic, sneakily capturing every moment!
The ceremony room was turned around for the wedding breakfast, and guests were welcomed back in to take. their seats for the meal. Everyone enjoyed a delicious three course meal, even myself and Cris – a massive bonus at a wedding. The food was yummy.
After the meal it was finally time for the speeches. A favourite of mine. Gemma’s dad did a wonderfully, heartfelt speech. Followed by Matthew, who did an equally heartfelt and wonderful speech. Then it was time for the best man. He absolutely knocked it out of the part. He did a video speech – he basically pretended that he’d forgotten his speech, then left the room. A video then began on a projector showing him running all the way back home to grab his speech – getting into some mischief along the way. It was brilliant, and everyone was laughing their heads off. I love when a best man does something a little different with his speech.
A fabulous evening followed the speeches, and it was an absolutely fantastic day. I hope Gemma and Matthew have an amazing future together.
