Gabby & Mathew’s Milton Utd Wedding
Gabby and Mathew booked me for their August wedding in early 2021. I’d worked with Gabby on a couple of commercial projects for a local company, so it was a real honour to be asked to film their wedding day.
Their ceremony was held at St Philip and St James’ Church in Milton, so I headed there first. I always like to arrive at the ceremony location about 60-90 minutes before the ceremony time. This gives me plenty of time to capture shots of the church before people start to arrive. I also get to snag a decent parking spot! The couples chosen photographer, Alan Fernihough and Charlie from Charlie and Em Photography also arrived. I’d not seen Charlie and Alan for a couple of years, so it was great to catch up again.
I’d not filmed at this church before, but it’s quite local to me, so that’s always a bonus. Mathew arrived, with best man and ushers in tow. Guests also began to arrive and they made their way inside the church, ready for the ceremony.
Church Wedding Ceremony
Once all of the guests were inside the church it was time for Gabby to arrive. She look absolutely amazing, and was escorted by her very proud father. Gabby walked down the aisle looking radiant, and Mathew was overcome with emotion. The ceremony was lovely, and it was great to see Gabby and Mathew tie the knot.
After the ceremony everyone made their way outside for a confetti shot and some family portraits.
Marquee Wedding Reception
After capturing some family portraits the guests began making their way over to the reception venue. The reception was being held at Milton Utd Football Club. A great choice for Gabby and Mathew, as Gabby’s dad is the chairman of the club. They’d set up a big marquee, and it was the perfect spot on a beautiful August day. But, before we arrived at the marquee we took a little detour and went to Gabby’s parents house for some couples portraits.
When we arrived at Milton Utd the guests were all enjoying the weather – it was an absolute scorcher of a day. And then it was time for the wedding breakfast and speeches. Just before the speeches though, disaster struck! Mathew, got stung by a bee, in HIS MOUTH. Thankfully he was perfectly fine, but his mouth was sore. He still pulled off an absolutely incredible speech. There seriously wasn’t a dry eye in the marquee. His speech has been one of my favourite groom’s speeches so far in 2021.
Gabby and Mathew put together a truly wonderful day, and I hope they have an incredible future together.
