Ellie & Josh’s Blackbrook House Wedding

Ellie and Josh booked me in the middle of 2020, for their wedding in October. Of course, because of Covid-19 Ellie and Josh decided to move their wedding to 2021. And I think that was a great decision, despite having to wait even longer to get married.

When the day finally came around in July 2021 there was a huge sense of relief. FINALLY, it was time for Ellie and Josh to tie the knot. They held their whole day at Blackbrook House. 2021 is looking to be a great year for visiting new wedding venues. I’d not been to Blackbrook House before, so I was super excited. It’s a lovely venue, tucked away in the Derbyshire countryside, surrounded by gorgeous woodland.

I began the day with Ellie and her bridesmaids, as they were having their hair and make up done. It was a lovely relaxed morning, and I enjoyed chatting with Ellie and her bridesmaids as well as filming them of course. Bridal preparations are always such a lovely way to start the day, they really help bring the beginning of the film together when editing.

The time soon came for Josh and the guests to start arriving, and I enjoyed capturing them as they arrived. It was an absolutely beautiful summers day, so everyone really enjoyed relaxing outside.

Blackbrook House Outdoor Wedding Ceremony

It was soon time for the ceremony and the guests took their seats at the outdoor ceremony area. Ellie made her way down to the ceremony, looking absolutely radiant.

I really love outdoor wedding ceremonies. It’s one of my favourite things about the summer. I mean, let’s face it, most of us love the summer so why not enjoy the sunshine a little more. The ceremony was absolutely beautiful, with the most heartfelt wonderful vows written by Ellie and Josh. Future brides and groom, PLEASE write personal vows, they are awesome. The ceremony also included a lovely nod to Ellie’s dad.

Blackbrook House Wedding Reception

After a lovely wedding ceremony, Ellie and Josh were officially husband and wife. They made their way up the aisle, being covered with confetti. Ellie, Josh and their guests enjoyed a drink reception in the sunshine, I think we all managed to top up our tans.

It was lovely to meet and work with Jon Cripwell, the couples chosen wedding photographer. We spent some time capturing family portraits. And then took the couple off for some portraits themselves. It was then time for a delicious wedding breakfast and speeches. The speeches were amazing, just as I expected after listening to their handwritten vows earlier in the day. There wasn’t a dry eye!

I hope Ellie and Josh have an incredible future together, and I hope I get to see them at other weddings.
