Sarah & Matthew’s Blackwell Grange Wedding
Sarah and Matthew came to me via recommendation from Kerrie-Anne and Ian’s wedding at the end of 2020. They were concerned whether I’d be willing to travel to capture their Cotswolds wedding video, but that’s absolutely no problem. I’m always happy to travel for a wedding, especially one in the Cotswolds.
I arrived at the gorgeous Blackwell Grange in the morning where I began capturing Sarah’s bridal preparations. This is always a lovely way to begin the day, and gives the perfect opening for your wedding film. It was soon time for Matthew and the groomsmen to arrive, and they began greeting the guests.
Blackwell Grange is a charming venue, with the wedding ceremony being in the 16th century Thatch Barn. It is absolutely beautiful! Since I was a kid I always said “I want a thatched roof on my house, mum”. Obvioiusly as I got older I quickly realised how expensive this would be, and we’ve got a new build house anyway. It might look a little odd with a thatched roof. Anyway, my love for a thatch roof is still strong. The Thatch Barn is a gorgeous spot for a wedding ceremony.

The guests made their way into the barn, and took their seats. Spreading out to ensure that they were complying with the Covid-19 rules! Matthew waited nervously at the front as Sarah made her way down the aisle, escorted by a very proud Father of the Bride.
The ceremony was beautiful, with some heartfelt readings, and it was a pleasure to capture. When Sarah and Matthew were officially husband and wife everyone headed back outside for the drinks reception.

We were truly blessed by the weather, it was gloriously sunny. The guests thoroughly enjoyed relaxing outside, eating canapés, and soaking up the sun. I, too, enjoyed being out in the sunshine. Weddings and sunshine, what more could I ask for? Sarah and Matthew spent time with their guests, chatting with them, and catching up after so long. One of the nicest things about the reduced guests at Covid-19 weddings is that the couple have more time to spend with their friends and family. Because there are less guests overall, they can spend longer with each one. It’s much more relaxing for them.
After a lovely drinks reception it was time for the wedding breakfast and speeches. A delicious three course meal was served, and the guests tucked straight in. The speeches were brilliant, always a favourite part of the day for me.
